Frequently Asked Questions
What age group is the program appropriate for?
Due to the personalized nature of the program, it’s appropriate for parents of kids of all ages from 3 to 18 years - and even through the twenties.
How much time does the program participation require?
In short, 1-2 hours per week.
There’s 1 hour of live sessions each week, either for group coaching or office hours. You’re strongly encouraged to join live each week, but you can watch the group recordings if you don’t have time to join the live call.
Then there’s up to 1 hour for the Sanity School® training videos. But you don’t need to sit in front of a computer with pen and paper while watching this. You can just listen to the audio while doing other things. The whole program was very intentionally designed for parents with unpredictable schedules.
Does this work for kids with ADHD / autism / anxiety / depression / or other issues?
Yes, it does. The program was specifically designed for parents and teachers of kids with all kinds of complex issues – ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, Depression, Autism,Tourette’s, PKU, and more.
My child is using ADHD medication / we’re considering medication. Will this program help?
Yes, it will. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology found that kids with ADHD who received behavioral treatment (meaning, their parents have gone through parent training) before starting medication had fewer behavioral problems than those who started with medication right away.
Starting with behavioral intervention can delay, reduce or eliminate the need for medication in children with ADHD. Fewer medications mean fewer side effects, such as trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, or personality changes.
When are the office hours with Diane and Elaine?
Office Hours with either Diane or Elaine currently alternate between 8pm and 12pm ET on various days so that any parent, anywhere, can hopefully find a time that works for their schedule. For confidentiality reasons, these sessions are not available for later listening.
When are the group coaching sessions?
Because group coaching brings together parents everywhere in the world who are facing similar issues, there are many groups offered. Multiple Groups meet at different times on ‘coaching weeks,’ divided by age group. Groups for “all ages” are also available when parents have multiple children or need a time that works for them.
This is how we ensure that parents anywhere in the world can find guidance and community support.
If it does happen that you won’t be able to join any of the groups, you can request a full refund within 14 days of your purchase.
What if I don’t like my group or my schedule changes?
Groups are led by several different coaches, so if you’re not finding a coach or group to be the best fit for you, you can always try another group. And if your schedule changes or you can’t make it to your group one week, you can always join any other group that week, listen later, or even change groups. We’ll work with you to make it work for you.
Can my spouse / co-parent also join?
One spouse, co-parent, or grandparent may receive additional login credentials to access the Sanity School® training videos at no additional cost, and you may also join live sessions together.
Can I complete the program at my own pace?
Yes, you can. You can watch the Sanity School® video training at your own convenience.
The group coaching calls and office hours are live, and we highly encourage you to join them live when possible. However, if for whatever reason you can’t attend, you’ll also be able to watch the group coaching recordings afterward.
Will we need to change our diet or take supplements for the Sanity School® program to work?
No. You will be educated on some science-backed aspects of the effect of nutrition on your child's behavior. But Sanity School® is primarily a behavior training, so all we’ll ask you to do is make small changes and tweaks in your parenting approach.
What’s the duration of the program?
The minimum commitment to the Sanity School® Transformation Program is 3 months. That’s the typical time it takes for most parents to start noticing significant lasting changes in their child’s behavior.
However, Sanity School® Group Coaching was designed to be an ongoing, 12-month support program. Parents who stay beyond the 3-month period report much more substantial results. They comfortably use the Coach Approach even in stressful situations, and their kids’ independence improves dramatically.
How long does it take to see results?
Many parents say they feel a deep sense of relief as soon as they sign up. That’s a great first result, but it’s just the beginning.
Within 2-3 months, you’ll notice significant behavior changes in your child as they begin to respond to the new strategies. This is why the minimum duration of the program is 3 months.
However, parents who stay longer report even more substantial results. They comfortably use the Coach Approach even in stressful situations, and their kids’ independence improves dramatically.
